LeRoy Alan Larkins

LeRoy "Alan" Larkins, Sr. passed away peacefully April 14, 2007 in Las Vegas, Nevada after a 22 year courageous battle with M.S.
He was born in Wadsworth, Ohio, August 13, 1949 to the late LeRoy N. Larkins and Alyce Follis Larkins. He was a graduate of Buchtel High School Class of '67 and attended The University of Akron. Alan performed in numerous plays at the Kent State African Community Theatre. He loved the Lord and Gospel singing and was a member of the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Las Vegas, Nevada.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Brian F.; and sister, Beverly Carter. Alan is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Laverne (Chambliss); sons, LeRoy A. Jr., of Cincinnati, Ohio, LaTroy L.A. of Las Vegas, Nevada, LaTron A. of Burbank, Calif.; sisters, Muriel (Joseph) Edwards of Kent, Ohio, and Sandra Smith, of Columbus, Ohio; aunts, Joanna (Rev. Samuel) Johnson, and Mary Gladys Larkins; sister-in-law, Lavonne Chambliss, all of Akron, Ohio; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
FUNERAL SERVICE AND INTERMENT HAVE TAKEN PLACE IN LAS VEGAS, NEVADA. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 28, 2007 at 1 p.m. at Stewart & Calhoun Funeral Home, 529 W. Thornton St., Akron, OH 44307.
