Gregory Cornelius Poole, Sr., 57, departed this earthly life on October 20, 2007.

Greg was born on December 4, 1949 in Akron, Ohio and was a lifetime resident of Akron. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Local 219, Plumbers & Pipefitters Union. He retired after 33 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lonnie C. Poole. He leaves to cherish his memory, former wife, Dorothy V. Poole; devoted son, Gregory C. Poole, Jr.; grandchildren, Dierre Abraham, Gregory C. Poole, III, Gha'Vaughn Poole, and Ah'Launa Poole; his mother, Maggie Poole; brothers, Ellsworth (Margaret) Poole, Gerald (Mary) Poole; sisters, Gwendolyn (Gary) Chambers, and Vicki (James) Isabell; special friends, Sharon Hall, James Guess, Carl and Dimber Cannon; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Services will be held Thursday, October 25 at 12 p.m. at Stewart & Calhoun Funeral Home, 529 W. Thornton St., Akron, OH 44307, Rev. Nathan Poole eulogizing, Rev. Loretta Sanders officiating. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery. Calling hours will begin at 11:30 a.m. until time of service. Procession will form at 746 Noah Ave., Akron, OH 44320, and condolences may be sent to 887 Hunt St., Akron, OH 44306.
