Beverly J. "Bev" Gates

Beverly Jane Gates, age 69, passed away on October 24, 2018, with her daughters by her side. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Betty Gates.
Bev was born in Akron, Ohio and lived here all of her life. She graduated from Buchtel High School in 1967 and attended the University of Akron. Bev worked as an administrative assistant at various local
businesses, but dedicated the majority of her career (24 years) to Warehouse Distributors before her official retirement in 2016. Bev will forever be remembered for her devotion to family and friends, her fighting spirit, her faith in God, as a lover and rescuer of animals, and for her beautiful ice blue eyes. All who knew her will never forget her ability to bring happiness to others with her goofy sense of humor, corny jokes, and her unyielding love and support. She always had a great love of the beach and had been planning to move there in her retirement years.
She is survived by her daughters Erin Marriott and Cheryl Johnson; her brother Jim Gates (Pamela); her sister Sandi Arthur (J. Robert); her nieces Jennifer Fowler (John); Alyssa Schreiber (David); Kara Kirkpatrick (John); and her nephew Ryan Arthur (Beata); as well as several great-nieces and nephews and an extended non-related family.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 2, 2018, from 5-7pm with a Celebration of Life service immediately following in the Rose Hill Funeral Home 3653 W Market St Akron, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to One of A Kind Pets Rescue 1929 W Market St, Akron, OH 44313.
