Ruth M. (Trommer) Biondo, 94, died Feb. 19, 2004, at the Hospice of Visiting Nurses. Ruth married Vincent J. Biondo on July 3, 1945. They had been married 58 years at the time of Vincent's death in 2003. Born in Akron, Ohio, on May 23, 1909, she had been a life resident. She was the daughter of the late Edward J. Trommer and Fannie B. (Rhoades) Trommer. She was a graduate of South High School and the University of Akron. She took graduate courses at both the University of Akron and Ohio State University. Ruth taught for Akron public schools for 32 years. She taught biology at Buchtel High School and biology and English at Simon Perkins Jr. High School. After retirement, she tutored junior high students for several years. Survivors include: children Frank Biondo of Portland, Ore., and Rev. Francine (Rev. Craig) Lantz of Glen Rock; grandchildren, Philip (Sarah) Lantz of Georgia, and Avram and Nathan Biondo of Oregon; great-grandson Caleb Lantz; and brother Paul Trommer. Ruth was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Akron, where she was also a librarian for many years. She was also a member of the former St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Akron, in her younger years where she served as the congregational organist. Ruth played the piano, organ and enjoyed floral arranging, reading, drawing and painting. Funeral services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor David Scharf officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Burial Park. Calling hours will be Sunday 7 to 9 p.m. at the Silva Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Visiting Nurses, 3358 Ridgewood Road, Akron, Ohio.
